  1. What does Photo No-No! do?

Unlike many other Parental Controls, Photo No-No! blocks pornographic photographs as they enter your computer by working as a firewall between your browser and the Internet. Instead of just blocking a list of pornographic words or specific web sites, Photo No-No! processes every entering photograph, using image analysis for possible pornographic content.

Photo No-No also knows about hundreds of thousands of KNOWN pronographic websites, and automatically blocks them.

The main task of Photo No-No! is to filter out Adult Images automatically.

As an added plus Photo No-No! also prevents adult images in e-mail.

  1. How is Photo No-No! different from other Parental Controls?

Photo No-No! not only blocks web sites, but it also scans images for possible adult content.

Other blockers can only block web sites – such as Cyber Sitter or Net Nanny - and thus leave your computer users vulnerable to new sites that are not in their list!

  1. What do you mean by a sliding scale?

What is a "pornographic" photo? Its definition is subjective depending on the individual. Some would say its nudity. Others, not.

With Photo No-No!, you can be the judge. Photo No-No!'s artificial intelligence has been trained to learn over a sliding scale.  At Maximum, or 10, Photo No-No! blocks all photos. At Off, or 0, it blocks none.

At its default setting of 5, Photo No-No! will correctly block the pornographic, or “bad” photos almost all of the time while letting ”good” photos through almost all the time. Setting the filter higher, to say 7, and it will block more pornographic or "questionable" photos of all types. However, it may also block some good photos. This added protection may be perfect for your comfort level.

  1. What kind of computer system do I need to use Photo No-No!?

Please see our System Requirements Page for the latest information.

  1. I use AOL to get to the Internet. Can I still use Photo No-No!?

If you have Internet Explorer, Netscape or other listed browser on our Systems Requirements page, Photo No-No! can protect your family. If AOL is your Internet Service Provider (ISP), simply click to diminish the AOL page after you have logged on, and then double click your browser’s icon on Desktop to access the Internet. It’s easy! Photo No-No! will go to work!

Currently, AOL Dial-up users must use a browser other than Internet Explorer for effective results. We recommend the Avant Browser. It can be downloaded for free at www.avantbrowser.com.

  1. Is this a “subscription” service?

No. Subscription services have to try to keep up with ever changing web site names of the Adult Image web sites. Photo No-No! works strictly from what’s entering your computer from the Internet and scans the images using Artificial Intelligence. You don’t need to constantly update lists of objectionable sites.

  1. Is Photo No-No! only a pornographic photo blocker?

No. You can also manually block pornographic web sites by site name, but that’s only a plus.

  1. That's great, but can I take a quick Tour?

Sure, either click on Tour in the Menu to the left, or click on Tour here.

  1. Does Photo No-No! ever make mistakes?

Like we all do, any intelligence makes mistakes. At its default setting, Photo No-No! will correctly block the pornographic, or “bad” photos almost all of the time while letting ”good” photos through almost all the time. The settings can be adjusted according to your preferences.

  1. I’ve got kids at ages 3, 10 and 16. Will Photo No-No! work for all?

Currently, Photo No-No! allows a single user setting. Pick one for all. Future versions may accommodate multiple users, and on multiple computers, at a sliding scale of filtering that you specify for each of your children.

  1. I have 2 home computers. Can I put it on each one?

Photo No-No! is currently priced for single user installations. You may purchase and download additional copies, or Contact Us for reduced multi-site pricing discounts.

  1. Can we use Photo No-No! in our School system or Library?

Photo No-No! is designed for single user application, such as home use. Libraries, Schools and other Institutions can install a copy of Photo No-No! on each computer that they wish to have it running on. Multi-user needs with a single proxy server instance can use our professional application software, Picture Guard. Click for further information.

  1. Will Photo No-No! work on computers in other countries, such as in Europe or Asia, where local language Internet sites are accessible?

Yes, Photo No-No! examines only the images entering your computer from the Internet. It does not depend on site names, on words, or on any particular language. Images from every Internet site are filtered for possible pornography.

  • Currently, Photo No-No! does require a basic understanding of English to Install the program the first time.
  • It also requires that your computer meet the System Requirements, of course.

Once installed, Photo No-No! filters Internet images accessed by anyone, from anywhere.

  1. Can my son get around Photo No-No!?

As long as you keep your Password safe from prying eyes, the filter setting should remain secure. However, Photo No-No! only intercepts HTTP requests for web pages and their images. It does not examine nor prevent downloads of files not originating from HTTP connections (such as some file sharing programs, direct connections, etc.) that may contain questionable content, but the computer can still be scanned for "bad" images (even within zip and hidden files) using the File Scan feature.

  1. What ways can I obtain Photo No-No!?

Currently the program is available for Download only, using easy step- by- step directions.

  1. What if I don’t feel comfortable buying products over the Internet?

We use PayPal, the most secure method of purchase available on the Internet today. They guarantee your purchase privacy. We don’t see the specifics of your transaction and no one else should either. Contact us for other offerings.

  1. Can I try it first for Free?

Yes, you can download Photo No-No! for a 15 day free trial. However, it’s a limited version to demonstrate the power of the software only:

  • It will filter photographs according to the settings you select.
  • It is not password protected. Your children, or anyone, can turn it off or change its settings.
  • You can only scan the first 100 images stored on your computer, instead of all.

You can elect to register at any time during your 15 days trial and you won’t have to download the program again.

  1. What about Updates?

We’re constantly working on new features. You get all Updates for the version you purchased, and installation support for one year from registered purchase.
